The Alchemist
The Alchemist Written by: Paulo Coelho A fable about following your dream. A shepherd who had to travel for long distance, and learn from his trip the things that will lead him to his Personal legend. There is a reason for every thing, and every thing is written by one hand in this universe. This Book is a must read book; I read it in four days, and felt sad when it ended. You could find it in Amazon.com . Enjoy it :)

why sad? read it again :p
The only this I felt sad when done reading it was a novel by najeeb mahfooz. The more I wanted to read & see what could happen next, the slower I try to read so I wont finish the novel.
Haven't read any books in a long time though!
taw elnas, you just found about it :)
I read it in two and half hours straight, awal mara I do it, was good.
Ra-1,
I will read it again, but maybe after two years.
Boghazi,
Never read a Novel for Najeeb Mhfooz.
Purg,
I bought that book long time ago, But I forgot it in the hotel were I was staying.
And a friend reminded me of it.
Two hours and a half (good job) my minimum time of reading a book was 5 minutes; well it was one of the (lady bird) books, the we used to read in KG and early years of school :p
ah ladybird, :)
Purg,
Did you read them when you were a kid?
of course :)
I'm sure it is interesting..
I will try to get it :]
sounds cool :D
Recommendation came just in time. I started reading my textbooks before going to sleep!
Next time I go out, I won't return without the book in my hands.

hmm why kh not k?
i've read the arabic version it is called :
الخيميائي
it was wonderful really :)
guys you can find it in jaareer book shop or virgin ( both the arabic and english versions)
thanx true faith ^_^
لأنهم أول كانوا يسمون الكيمياء خيمياء على ما أعتقد و بالانجليزي :
alchemy
:p
at last ,, some recognition
eee walla just checked :)
Clouds,
The term 'alkali' (bases - as opposed to acids - in chemistry) is originally rooted from an Arabic word as well.
I think it's القلي if that makes a correct term in Arabic. :o
You can tell it's Arabic since it starts with an 'al' anyways.
Interesting!
this is one of the books that make me stay in bed and in my room
this how i started to sit mo often in my room :P
i recomend another oldy
"Almost Like A Whale" by Steve Tones, but u might not like it its more into the scientific feild .. i ahted it but it worth to be read :)
looooool little big :P
أبلة الخيمياء عاد !! hehe
suvai
yeah they took many things from Arabs even the word banana was taken from us!
:)
;p
Just to clarify that it wasn't "they took from us", we gave them it; we took it from those before us; we developed it; if it wasn't for us, they'd have lost it. They came to us, we taught Them.
As one Philosopher said: If we carried on working/progressing as we did, we would be where they are today, albeit with the ethics of Islam.
Alas, it is US that have taken a back seat. We need to Wake Up and stop blaming Them.
Since it is about chasing dreams then I might read it..maybe I will be inspired to write few poems ;)
I heard the arabic name before, I think my brother has the book. I will dig in his bookshelf ;)
Swair, Rain Drop,Suvai,
I ensure you that you will enjoy it.
Clouds,
New Info :)
Little Big,
hahahaha :D
BB,
Do you mean in my blog?
I promise that there will be more :)
Purg,
e walla what?
nooni,
I will check this book.
anonymous,
I think by us you meant Muslims not Arabs.
Hopeless poet,
I read the English virgin, and not sure about the Arabic one. I know that the original one is in Spanish.
Bu Bader,
I totally agree with you.
on the alchemist in arabic
Bu B: We all have buttons we don't liked pushed sometimes. But doesn't give us the licence to speak/write in a way that we don't normally and then make excuses.
The Muslims took charge of lands with such sciences; they could have destroyed it, saying it's Kfr. History of Spain highlights the transition of knowledge.
TF: Although "us" and "Them" theme started from the above comment "they took from us", I am not even referring to only the Muslims. Agreeing with Bu Bader that "...were the product of non-Arab Muslims", furthermore, a lot of the translation work was done by Nestorian Christian and Jews (who knew the languages), under the patronage of the Caliphs.
European academic William Montgomery Watt's Influence of Islam on Medieval Europe is a standard univesity text book. And an interesting article 'How Islam has kept us out of the 'Dark Ages' by Deborah Rowe on C4's website is reassuring.
